Bible stories for children are used in a number of ways for kids and teens alike as a vice for children’s vulnerability against drugs, alcohol and especially domestic violence. Most children and teens nowadays are faced with many challenges as well as peer pressure and need some kind of grounding whereby they are able to face these challenges. Christianity has taken the opportunity to make use of Sunday school as a forum to addresses the needs of children and teens alike to ensure their mental well being.
Children that are aged between 9 and upwards will also be addressed on subjects such as sex education, family life and extra marital affairs. The aim behind Sunday school is to make sure that congregation develops a clear vision as well as a healthy outlook to life. And in today’s times a Sunday school teacher encourages and deliberates discussion on many valuable topics as opposed to the old Sunday school regime.
Bible stories for children taught in Sunday school are not only about Jesus and the Bible, as the name suggests. They also deliver important messages to the youth of today. These lessons also include arts and crafts, Christian camps, and the children learn about the power of God’s love. Children are taught to take a stance against the devils evil schemes and are usually taught to recite Ephesians 6 verse 11 which states put on the armor of God so that you can fight against the devil’s maliciousness.
When a teacher is teaching Bible stories for children she/he can also incorporate questions with regards to spiritual armor and why the children require such armor, and when you are wearing armor what are you fighting against? Questions such as does God help us in spiritual battles and should we be afraid of such battles. When it comes to school, church and home, how should we use this armor etc?
Bible lessons for children should also include the ways in which God can help them. That God is the only being that can give us the necessary tools to fight spiritual battles and that he will always be there in times of need. A Sunday school teacher can get the children to make the armor of God by creating their own shields, helmets, swords etc. the teacher also needs to remind the children what each and every piece of armor means and then allow them to dress up in their armor.
